Catholic masses suspended in Dubai over security concerns
Catholic churches in Dubai have suspended all public Masses following government directives amid heightened security concerns linked to the ongoing Middle East war, just days ahead of Easter.
St Francis of Assisi Church in Jebel Ali announced on its website that, following official instructions, “all Masses at our Church are cancelled until further notice," Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
“Parishioners are requested to refrain from visiting the Church premises, in the interest of safety and community well-being,” the announcement added.
St Mary’s Catholic Church in Dubai issued a similar notice, confirming that services would be suspended and that Good Friday’s mass would instead be live-streamed on the church’s YouTube channel.
The cancellations come amid broader security precautions in the region as tensions escalate.
Earlier, French authorities banned a planned Muslim gathering near Paris, citing security concerns.
