“Caucasus Eagle 2026”: Azerbaijan joins Türkiye, Georgia in special forces exercise PHOTO
Special forces personnel from Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Georgia have launched a joint tactical exercise near the Georgian capital, underscoring growing defence cooperation among the three countries.
The opening ceremony of the “Caucasus Eagle 2026” exercise was held at the Mukhrani Military Base outside Tbilisi, Caliber.Az reports per the Defence Ministry.
The event brought together Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia Faig Guliyev, military attaché representatives and senior officers from all three participating countries.
Participants observed a minute of silence in memory of servicemen killed in the defence of the independence and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Georgia. The national anthems were played and flags raised during the ceremony.
Officials said the exercise is aimed at improving joint operational planning, enhancing interoperability and sharing professional military experience among the participating special forces units.
Speakers at the opening ceremony highlighted the importance of such drills for strengthening regional security cooperation and boosting combat readiness, wishing participants success in achieving training objectives.
