Caucasus Muslim leader heads to Angola for UN-backed peace dialogue
Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board (CMB), Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, departed for Angola to participate in the high-level dialogue titled "Call for Peace, Ending Wars and Respect for International Law."
The visit is taking place at the invitation of Miguel Ángel Moratinos, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the UN Alliance of Civilizations, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The event will be held in Luanda on July 16–17 in cooperation with the Government of Angola.
The dialogue will mark the first meeting of its kind to be hosted on the African continent, following the inaugural gathering in Guernica, Spain, and the second session in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Sheikh-ul-Islam Pashazade is scheduled to deliver remarks at the opening ceremony.
