CENTCOM chief reaffirms Washington’s unwavering support for Israel
US Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Admiral Brad Cooper told senior Israel Defence Forces (IDF) commanders in remarks obtained exclusively by The Jerusalem Post that the United States remains unwaveringly committed to Israel.
The gathering, led by IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, brought together senior IDF officers and operational commanders at the rank of lieutenant colonel and above, including battalion and squadron commanders who had taken part in the war.
During the meeting, Cooper emphasised that the United States and Israel had achieved the “unimaginable” together, describing the achievement as historically significant.
“You are a nation of warriors, and the people sitting here are the leaders of those warriors. I am proud to serve shoulder to shoulder with you. We have a high and enduring commitment to you,” the US military commander stressed.
According to a source familiar with the closed-door meeting, Cooper said that while many countries speak of allies fighting “shoulder to shoulder,” in the case of the United States and Israel, the phrase reflects an operational reality.
In turn, Eyal Zamir thanked the CENTCOM chief for the close cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries and presented him with a gift. He described US military assistance as “unprecedented” and a “strategic anchor.”
“We are in a significant period and at a strategic crossroads,” Zamir told the forum.
