CENTCOM: Iranian missile, drone attacks drop sharply
Iranian ballistic missile attacks have decreased by 90 per cent and drone attacks by 83 per cent over the past 24 hours, while United States strikes against Iranian naval assets have intensified, according to the commander of the United States Central Command.
Speaking at a news conference on March 5, Admiral Brad Cooper said US operations have significantly degraded Iran’s ability to conduct attacks, while American forces continue expanding strikes against military infrastructure, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Over the same period, US forces reportedly sank 30 ships belonging to the Iranian Navy and struck a drone ship that remains on fire, Cooper said. It should be noted, that US President Trump earlier said the US reportedly sank "24 ships in three days."
“Our combined joint forces have relentlessly destroyed Iran’s air defenses over the past few days and continued hunting for more systems to kill,” Cooper said. “Our air defenders are operating at the very top of their game. I couldn’t be prouder.”
Cooper added that the US military had struck 200 targets deep inside Iran in the past 72 hours, including dozens of bombs dropped on Iranian ballistic missile launchers. American forces also targeted Iran’s equivalent of Space Command, according to the commander.
He stressed that US forces remain focused on achieving decisive results, while warning that the conflict is unlikely to end quickly.
“We are fighting to win,” Cooper said, adding that the war “is going to take some time.”
