CENTCOM: Three US service members killed in operation against Iran

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) reported on 1 March that three American service members were killed and five others seriously wounded during a military operation against Iran as part of Operation Epic Fury.

In a statement, CENTCOM said the casualties occurred during ongoing major combat operations, with several other personnel sustaining minor shrapnel injuries and concussions. These service members are in the process of being returned to duty.

“[...] three U.S. service members have been killed in action and five are seriously wounded as part of Operation Epic Fury.

Several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions — and are in the process of being returned to duty. Major combat operations continue and our response effort is ongoing,” the statement read.

CENTCOM noted that the situation remains fluid and, out of respect for the families, additional information — including the identities of the fallen — will be withheld until 24 hours after next of kin have been notified.
