Chechen leader showcases “revenge strike for Grozny” on Ukrainian positions
The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, shared a video on social media showing an artillery strike on Ukrainian Armed Forces positions, calling it retribution for a drone attack in Grozny.
He emphasised that reconnaissance drones first identified Ukrainian fortifications and firing points, which were subsequently targeted with artillery, Caliber.Az reports via Kadyrov’s Telegram channel.
He claimed the strike suppressed key enemy positions, destroyed equipment, and inflicted casualties.
“The enemy failed to defend their positions. All assigned tasks were completed by Russian forces. Perfect coordination of all units,” Kadyrov noted.
The video shows a shell labelled “for Grozny” being loaded and fired at the targets.
Kadyrov noted that while the threat of Ukrainian drone attacks in Chechnya persists, most flight paths are blocked, and only isolated drones reach their targets.
On December 5, 2025, a Ukrainian drone strike hit the Grozny‑City skyscraper complex in Chechnya’s capital, causing structural damage to several floors of the high‑rise that houses regional government offices and business facilities.
Ukraine‑linked monitoring channels Exilenova+ and Chechen opposition sources reported the drone impact, and photos showed significant facade damage around the 28th floor.
Chechen authorities did not immediately confirm details, but local videos showed a fire and public alarm after the explosion.
In response, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov publicly condemned the strike, vowed retaliation, and asserted there were no casualties, framing the incident as intimidation against civilians.
