China, Canada open new chapter in bilateral relations
China is ready to work with Canada to strengthen stable and healthy bilateral ties, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during a meeting with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
Wang noted that Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s recent visit to China reflected Ottawa’s new policy toward Beijing, aligned with the interests of both countries, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
He added that President Xi Jinping and Carney reached a consensus on establishing a new strategic partnership, providing guidance for the further development of relations.
Anita Anand called Carney’s visit “very successful,” highlighting that it marked a new era in Canada-China relations. She thanked Beijing for granting visa-free travel for Canadian citizens and expressed hope for enhanced dialogue, reciprocal visits, and cooperation.
