China coup rumours dismissed

Rumours about a possible coup in China are false. 

The situation in Beijing is calm, the security measures have not been intensified, a Lenta.Ru correspondent reported on September 24.

Earlier, information went viral that a coup d'état occurred in China and the opposition seized power. One of the arguments was the allegedly cancelled flights from Beijing.

The Chinese residents are actively preparing for the "Golden Week" - the celebration of the 73rd anniversary of the foundation of the People’s Republic of China, which is celebrated on October 1.

Air and train tickets become more expensive and are sold out quickly in connection with the holidays because the inhabitants of the country, as a rule, travel a lot during this period.

However, tickets can be purchased in any direction, it is possible to leave Beijing and enter the city.

Moreover, there were no interruptions in the work of TV channels, news agencies and social networks.

Despite the information about 6,000 cancelled flights, only 491 flights were cancelled at Beijing Capital International Airport while 332 flights were made. Some 430 flights were cancelled at Daxing International Airport, while 278 flights were made.

Flights are regularly delayed and cancelled in China, mainly due to weather conditions or the epidemiological situation.
