China denies reports of missile deal with Iran

Reports in international media claiming that Iran is close to concluding an agreement with China to purchase CM-302 supersonic anti-ship missiles are not accurate, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said.

The publications alleged that the missiles would become one of the most advanced types of weaponry supplied by China to Iran in recent years.

“China opposes the imposition of negative associations and the spread of disinformation, and hopes that the relevant parties will choose a course of action conducive to de-escalating tensions,” Xinhua quotes the diplomat as saying.

Mao Ning emphasised that China, “as a responsible major country, consistently fulfills its international obligations.”
