China develops world’s first microwave weapon

Chinese scientists have developed the TPG1000Cs microwave weapon, reportedly capable of disabling satellites.

The TPG1000Cs is the world’s first compact driver designed for high‑power microwave (HPM) weapons, capable of generating an exceptional 20 gigawatts of output and sustaining it for up to a full minute, Caliber.Az reports per Chinese media.

The device is not only powerful but also compact, measuring about four meters in length and weighing less than five tons. Its design allows it to be mounted on trucks, aircraft, and satellites. 

According to estimates by some Chinese experts, a ground‑based microwave weapon generating more than 1 GW of power could seriously disrupt or potentially damage Starlink satellites operating in low Earth orbit. The weapon has already been dubbed a nightmare for Starlink.

Until now, comparable systems were limited to continuous operation of no more than three seconds and were significantly larger in size.
