China imposes export restrictions on dual-use goods to Japan
China has imposed a ban on the export of dual-use goods to Japan, citing remarks made by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi concerning Taiwan.
The new restrictions, which were announced by the Ministry of Commerce, prohibit the export of goods that could potentially be used for military purposes. The ban also extends to any exports that could contribute to Japan's military capabilities, Caliber.Az reports.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated that the decision follows statements by Takaichi, which were seen as undermining the "One China" policy. Specifically, the comments, which suggested the possibility of Japanese military intervention in the Taiwan Strait, were condemned as "erroneous" and "malicious."
The ministry emphasised that such remarks have "extremely harmful consequences" and pose a significant threat to regional stability.
The export restrictions are now in effect, with all relevant goods prohibited from being sent to Japan.
