China, India discuss defence cooperation at SCO meeting in Kyrgyzstan
China’s Defence Minister Dong Jun has held talks with his Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh in Kyrgyzstan, where the two sides discussed bilateral cooperation.
On the sidelines of a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) defence ministers’ meeting, the ministers focused on regional security issues as well as the development of defence ties between China and India, Caliber.Az reports, citing Reuters.
Particular attention was given to maintaining regional stability and strengthening military communication channels between the two countries.
The SCO, set up in 2001, is the successor to the Shanghai Five, a grouping of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, set up in 1996.
It now also includes India, Pakistan, Iran and Uzbekistan.
