China investigates senior military officials for suspected violations
China’s Ministry of National Defence announced that senior military officials Zhang Youxia and Liu Zhenli are under investigation for suspected serious violations of discipline and law.
Zhang Youxia serves as a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and as vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC). Liu Zhenli is a member of the CMC and the chief of staff of the CMC Joint Staff Department.
According to the ministry, the decision to place both officials under investigation was made by the CPC Central Committee.
The probe comes amid ongoing anti-corruption and discipline campaigns within China’s military, signaling the leadership’s continued focus on maintaining strict oversight of senior officers.
