China, Jordan seek closer strategic ties amid Middle East crisis

25 August 2026 10:29

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks in Beijing with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on the sidelines of King Abdullah II’s state visit to China.

The visit by King Abdullah II marks his first trip to China in 11 years. Wang emphasised the strategic significance of the royal visit, reiterating Beijing’s readiness to deepen mutual strategic trust, expand bilateral cooperation, and firmly support Jordan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Ahead of the upcoming 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations next year, Chinese officials signalled a commitment to fostering durable peace across the Middle East and working toward an early ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Safadi highlighted the priority Amman places on its partnership with Beijing, commending China for playing a constructive and responsible role in addressing complex Middle Eastern issues.
