China launches new remote sensing satellite group

China launched a new group of remote sensing satellites from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in northern Shanxi Province.

The Yaogan-40 04 satellites were launched at 4:46 p.m. Beijing time aboard a modified Long March-6 carrier rocket and successfully entered their designated orbits, Caliber.Az reports, citing Chinese media.

The satellites will be used for electromagnetic environment detection and related technical tests.

The launch marked the 670th mission of the Long March series of carrier rockets.

On October 23, China also successfully launched a Long March 2C carrier rocket, placing a group of remote-sensing satellites into orbit.

These satellites are part of China’s growing fleet of remote-sensing spacecraft, designed to detect and monitor physical characteristics of objects on land and sea.
