China opposes use of cluster munitions in Ukraine
China calls on all parties to refrain from using cluster munitions in Ukraine.
According to TASS, Geng Shuang, Deputy Permanent Representative and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations, made the statement at the UN meeting.
"Countries should strictly observe international humanitarian law and relevant international conventions, refrain from carrying out attacks against civilians and infrastructure, cultural heritage sites, and from irresponsible use and transfer of cluster munitions," he said.
The Chinese spokesman said Beijing supports dialogue and negotiations for a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis.
"The ongoing war in Ukraine has side effects and there are more and more of them. The main way out is to reach a political settlement on the Ukrainian issue. Military means are not an alternative to this, dialogue and negotiations are the right choice," he said.
