China reaffirms support for EU integration, strategic independence
Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that China regards Europe as an important pole in the multipolar world and supports the EU integration and strategic independence.
The Chinese leader made these remarks during a phone talk with European Council President Antonio Costa, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"China considers Europe to be an important pole in the multipolar world and supports the EU's integration and strategic independence. Xi Jinping emphasised that Beijing and Brussels do not have fundamental conflicts of interest or geopolitical contradictions. Moreover, the two sides are partners working toward mutual success," the Chinese foreign ministry stated.
Xi Jinping also added that China has trust in the EU and the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has complementary advantages, as well as being mutually beneficial and win-win.
In November 2024, during a meeting with Italian President Sergio Mattarella, Xi Jinping, expressed China's readiness to strengthen ties with the EU and urged Italy to play a role in promoting this initiative. He emphasized that both countries must take the necessary steps to resolve any disagreements between them to ensure the development of advanced and stable relations between Beijing and Brussels.
