China reaffirms support for Palestinian self-governance, calls for immediate Gaza ceasefire
China has reiterated its support for all efforts aimed at reducing tensions between Palestine and Israel, emphasizing its commitment to a just and lasting resolution to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
“China endorses and encourages all efforts that help ease tensions between Palestine and Israel,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun, Caliber.Az reports, citing Chinese media.
Guo made the remarks during a regular press briefing in Beijing when asked to comment on a plan proposed by the Trump administration aimed at ending the war in Gaza. The US-backed initiative includes provisions for a phased ceasefire, Israeli military withdrawal, the release of hostages, and the formation of a transitional administration in Gaza.
Addressing the broader international response, Guo stated: “China urges all relevant parties to sincerely implement the relevant UN resolutions, immediately achieve a full ceasefire in Gaza, release all detained individuals, and quickly alleviate the humanitarian crisis in the region.”
Underscoring Beijing’s long-held policy on the Palestinian issue, he added, “China advocates adhering to the principle of 'Palestinians governing Palestine,' promotes the implementation of the two-state solution, and is willing to work with the international community to make ongoing efforts for an early, comprehensive, just, and lasting settlement of the Palestinian issue.”
