Production and sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) stood at 1.23 million and 1.25 million units respectively during the month.
In the first quarter of the year, total vehicle production reached 7.04 million units, while sales amounted to 7.05 million units. Over the same period, NEV production and sales totaled 2.97 million and 2.96 million units respectively.
Chen Shihua, deputy secretary-general of CAAM, said that in the second quarter the effects of large-scale equipment renewal programs and trade-in schemes for consumer goods are expected to become more visible. He added that the Beijing International Auto Show will introduce a range of new models, helping sustain market momentum and boost car consumption.
