China-Russia relations in focus as Xi, Putin confer via video

Chinese President Xi Jinping held a video conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Xi conducted the call from the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, state broadcaster CCTV reported.

The virtual meeting comes days after top diplomats from both countries indicated that bilateral relations could “break new ground” this year, as Beijing and Moscow aim to expand economic cooperation.
