China's NORINCO unveils three-in-one LD35 mobile air defence system 35mm cannon, rocket launcher and laser weapons

Chinese defence company NORINCO has introduced the latest generation of its LD35 mobile air defence system. The air defence system is a combination of a 35 mm automatic cannon, a rocket launcher and a laser weapon mounted on an 8 x 8 mobile platform.

According to BuildingTECH, the LD35 is the next generation of self-propelled air defence systems designed to provide reliable protection against airborne threats. Designed for use as a self-contained, mobile, all-weather air defence system, the LD35 protects vital areas and mobile units.

The system is aimed at intercepting a wide range of threats, including aircraft, attack helicopters, cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) attacking from medium, low and ultra-low altitudes.

One of the key features of the LD35 is the integrated 35mm gun and rocket system, enhancing its ability to effectively engage air threats as well as cruise missiles and ground targets.

The inclusion of a single-barrel automated 35mm gun equipped with a muzzle velocity meter and fixed coil underscores the system's advanced technology and firepower.

According to NORINCO, the LD35 system has demonstrated impressive capabilities, with the 35mm rotary cannon firing Ahide programmable fragmentation ammunition to successfully destroy small drones.

The tests highlight the system's accuracy and effectiveness in neutralising airborne threats and mark a significant achievement in air defence technology.
