China, Saudi Arabia seek expanded cooperation on regional, global issues PHOTO
Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in Beijing, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation on regional and global issues.
During the meeting, Han said China-Saudi Arabia relations have maintained strong momentum in recent years under the strategic guidance of the two countries' leaders, Xinhua reports.
Noting that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Saudi comprehensive strategic partnership, Han said Beijing is prepared to work closely with Riyadh to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state.
"China is willing to work with Saudi Arabia to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen political mutual trust, enhance high-level exchanges, and expand practical cooperation to promote new progress in bilateral relations," Han said.
Han also emphasized the two countries' shared role as leading members of the Global South.
"As important members of the Global South, China and Saudi Arabia should enhance communication and coordination and contribute to maintaining regional and world peace and stability," he added.
Faisal said the comprehensive strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and China has reached an unprecedented level, underscoring Riyadh's commitment to further expanding cooperation.
"The development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and China has reached an unprecedented high level," Faisal said.
He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's adherence to the one-China principle and expressed the kingdom's readiness to work with Beijing to further advance bilateral relations.
"Saudi Arabia firmly abides by the one-China principle and is ready to work with China to continue advancing bilateral relations. The two sides should strengthen cooperation in multilateral fields and jointly promote regional and world peace and stability," he said.
