China, United States dismantle transnational drug crime network
China and the United States have jointly uncovered a transnational criminal case involving the illegal trade of new psychoactive substances, according to China’s Ministry of Public Security (MPS).
The ministry said China’s Narcotics Control Bureau and the US Drug Enforcement Administration launched a joint investigation in 2024, Caliber.Az reports, citing Xinhua.
In February 2026, police in the city of Tianjin arrested a suspect surnamed Gong based on intelligence provided by the US side. Earlier, a related suspect had been detained in the US state of Georgia.
Chinese authorities said the successful conclusion of the investigation reflects the institutionalised nature of cooperation between the two countries in combating drug-related crimes and coordinating efforts against transnational criminal networks.
They also emphasised that both sides maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward drug offences and related cross-border criminal activity.
