China urges Israel to end military strikes on Iran, warns of escalation

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for an immediate end to Israel’s military actions against Iran during a phone conversation with his Israeli counterpart, Gideon Sa’ar, a statement from China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes, Reuters reports.

Wang emphasized China’s commitment to resolving international and regional disputes through “dialogue and consultation.”

“The recent negotiations between Iran and the US had been making notable progress, which also took into account Israel’s security concerns,” the ministry said. “Regrettably, this process has been disrupted by military strikes.”

The statement added: “China calls for immediate cessation of military actions to prevent the conflict from further escalating and spiraling out of control.” It also stressed opposition to the strikes, warning that “the use of force cannot truly solve problems. Instead, it will create new ones and leave severe aftereffects.”

China, which relies heavily on Gulf Arab states for energy imports, faces growing concerns over the safety of its supply lines amid the ongoing conflict.
