China urges respect for Iran’s sovereignty amid Middle East tensions
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called for respect for the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of Iran and the countries of the Persian Gulf.
According to Wang, the conflict in the Middle East, which he said was initiated by the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic, should not have occurred as it benefits none of the parties involved.
“The world should not return to the widespread use of force, which does not prove strength and instead makes civilians innocent victims of war,” the diplomat said at a press conference, TASS reports.
Wang stressed that the peoples of the Middle East are the true masters of the region and spoke out against interference in the internal affairs of states.
“Regional affairs should be resolved by the countries themselves. Attempts to impose colour revolutions or regime change do not enjoy public support,” the minister added.
