China urges US to immediately scrap drone tariffs

China’s Ministry of Commerce has urged the United States to immediately remove tariffs on imported drones and their components imposed under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act.

He ​Yadong, a ​ministry ⁠spokesperson, said Washington’s actions constitute protectionism and unilateral measures disguised as national security concerns, Caliber.Az reports, citing Reuters.

He stressed that Chinese drones exported to the US are primarily used for civilian purposes, including agriculture, technical inspections and entertainment.

The tariffs "treat related ‌Chinese ⁠products in a discriminatory manner and seriously harms ​the ​interests ⁠of Chinese companies," ​Yadong noted.
