Chinese aircraft carrier Liaoning heads to Western Pacific for training
A Chinese naval formation led by the aircraft carrier Liaoning has departed for the Western Pacific to conduct routine training.
The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy said, on May 19, the carrier group will carry out a range of exercises, including long-range tactical flight operations, live-fire drills, support and cover manoeuvres, and comprehensive search-and-rescue training, Caliber.Az rpeorts, citing Chinese media.
Officials stated that the drills are designed to test and improve the military’s realistic combat training capabilities and overall operational readiness.
Conducted in line with the annual training plan, the exercises aim to strengthen the forces’ ability to fulfil their missions, the navy added, stating that the activities comply with relevant international law and established maritime practice.
