Chinese embassy posts satirical clip targeting Trump’s security alliance

12 March 2026 19:58

The Chinese Embassy in the United States released a satirical video on social media, mocking the newly established “Shield of the Americas” security alliance led by US President Donald Trump. The animation portrays Trump as a predatory bald eagle and the participating Latin American nations as small, vulnerable birds, The Chosun reports.

The 18-second clip, uploaded to the embassy’s official Facebook and Instagram accounts, begins with the eagle and small birds seated in a conference room adorned with the alliance logo. A red “call button,” reminiscent of the so-called “Cola Button” from Trump’s presidency, sits before the eagle. When pressed, flames erupt outside the window, causing the small birds to cry, “Help us!” The eagle then gathers them under a shield marked with the US flag, which quickly sprouts spikes, trapping the birds. The animation ends with the eagle declaring, “Security comes with some control.”

Accompanying the video, the embassy posted the caption: “Shield of the Americas or Shackles of the Americas?” implying that participation in the alliance could leave member states under US influence. Analysts note that the 12 countries involved in the summit are predominantly governed by pro-US administrations.

The embassy’s release comes ahead of Trump’s visit to China later this month and is interpreted as a cautionary message against his so-called “Donro Doctrine” — a blend of Donald and Monroe — emphasizing US dominance in the Western Hemisphere.
