Chinese humanoid robot sets new Guinness world record VIDEO
A humanoid robot built in China has set a new Guinness World Record after walking 106 kilometres between Suzhou and Shanghai, obeying traffic regulations throughout the entire journey without stopping.
The achievement was announced on the Guinness World Records website.
Created by the Shanghai-based company Agibot, the A2 android began its trek from Suzhou on the night of November 10 and reached Shanghai’s Bund in the early hours of November 13.
It’s hardware enabled the robot to navigate challenging conditions, handling traffic lights, tight passages, and crowded pavements while maintaining steady environmental awareness both day and night.
The robot continued along asphalt roads, cobblestone walkways, and bridges, consistently following traffic rules.
"Walking from Suzhou to Shanghai is a tough task even for many humans, but the robot achieved it,” said Wang Chuang, Senior Vice President of Agibot.
"It proves the maturity of the robot's hardware, cerebellar balance algorithms and endurance, laying a solid foundation for large-scale commercial deployment," Wang added.
Upon reaching its destination, the robot described the trek as an "unforgettable experience in its machine life," joking that it "might need new shoes."
In April, the Tien Kung Ultra—developed by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Centre—completed a 21-kilometre half-marathon in 2 hours and 40 minutes.
