Chinese language interest rising in Azerbaijan, ambassador says PHOTO
China’s ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei has highlighted growing interest in the Chinese language and expanding cultural and people-to-people ties between the two countries, pointing to increased exchanges, academic cooperation, and tourism.
The envoy made the remarks at a ceremony marking the launch of a Chinese language course for members of the New Azerbaijan Party, Caliber.Az reports.
“I have many Azerbaijani friends who speak Chinese fluently. In addition, there are young people in Azerbaijan who are mastering traditional Chinese arts. Universities and think tanks in China continue to actively conduct research related to Azerbaijan.
In 2025, more than 60,000 Chinese citizens visited Azerbaijan. These facts are a clear example of the development of friendship between the two peoples and intercivilizational dialogue. We hope that party members studying Chinese will contribute to strengthening this friendship and developing bilateral cooperation in all areas. The Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan will continue to create all necessary conditions for this,” the ambassador emphasized.
