Chinese Onvo offers daily rewards for delivery delays amid soaring L90 demand

13 August 2025 19:43

Onvo, the family-oriented sub-brand of Chinese electric vehicle maker Nio, announced the launch of a new “Waiting Points” compensation program for its flagship L90 SUV, in response to high order volumes causing extended delivery times. The initiative takes effect immediately.

According to an official announcement posted on the Onvo app, the program offers customers 500 points—equivalent to approximately 50 yuan or 7 USD—for each day their vehicle delivery exceeds 28 days from the order lock-in date. The move comes amid strong demand following the vehicle’s recent debut, CarNewsChina reports.

“We deeply empathise with your anticipation and the desire to hit the road immediately after locking in your vehicle’s configuration,” the company stated, acknowledging the inconvenience some customers are facing. Onvo noted that many buyers have sold their old vehicles or planned family travel based on expected delivery schedules.

Since deliveries began on August 1, Onvo has handed over more than 4,000 L90 units to customers. Despite extensive preparations across production, supply chain, and logistics, the brand has seen delivery timelines stretch beyond initial estimates.

In the company’s words, “The Onvo L90 has been well-received since its launch. We are grateful for your overwhelming trust and support.”

Under the “Waiting Points” program, compensation begins on the 29th day after the order lock-in date and continues daily until three days after the vehicle reaches the delivery center. The accrued points will be credited to the primary user’s account within one week of the vehicle’s collection.

Onvo also confirmed the extension of this policy to customers of the L60 SUV who locked in their orders after July 1, 2025, and face similar delays exceeding four weeks.

The Onvo L90 officially launched on July 31 and recorded 1,976 deliveries within its first 72 hours. The vehicle sold 2,100 units last week alone, underlining the model’s growing popularity.

The “Waiting Points” initiative appears to be a proactive effort by Onvo to maintain customer satisfaction amid unprecedented demand, while also reinforcing its commitment to transparent and customer-first service.
