Chinese planes and ships approaching Taiwan
In the last 24 hours, Taiwanese Armed Forces have detected increased activity from Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) planes and ships near the island.
From 6:00 Friday to 6:00 Saturday, 28 Chinese aircraft were observed, Caliber.Az cites the statement of Taiwan's Defence Ministry shared on social media platform X.
28 PLA aircraft and 10 PLAN vessels operating around Taiwan were detected up until 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today. 22 of the aircraft crossed the median line and entered Taiwan's southeastern and southwestern ADIZ. We have monitored the situation and responded accordingly. pic.twitter.com/ObMMU0eGuV

Additionally, 10 PLA ships were spotted in Taiwan's maritime zone.
Moreover, 22 PLA aircraft crossed the so-called "median line" of the Taiwan Strait and entered the air defence identification zone.
Taiwan has operated under its own administration since 1949 when Chiang Kai-shek and the remaining Kuomintang forces retreated there following their defeat in the Chinese Civil War. Beijing, however, views Taiwan as a province of the People's Republic of China.
