Chinese ships navigate critical Strait of Hormuz after initial turnback
30 March 2026 17:20
Two Chinese container ships successfully sailed through the Strait of Hormuz on March 30 after turning back into the Gulf on March 27, ship-tracking data showed.
The vessels were reported to be traveling in close formation out of the strait and into open waters, according to MarineTraffic data, Reuters reports.
Officials from COSCO, the shipping group that operates the two vessels, were not immediately available for comment.
The Strait of Hormuz, a critical international waterway, has effectively been shut since the US-Israeli war on Iran began on February 28.
