CIS countries launch unified geospatial portal with free access
The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) has launched a unified geospatial portal, providing free access to spatial data for citizens, businesses, and government agencies.
The CIS Executive Committee said the portal serves as a reference and information resource and will be continuously updated with new data, per Kyrgyz media.
“The CIS Spatial Data Infrastructure Geospatial Portal offers unique access to key opportunities across the CIS region. Using the platform, users can explore tourism potential, choose higher education institutions, plan career paths, and identify investment opportunities,” the statement reads.
The portal is designed as a unified geoinformation platform to serve citizens, government and municipal authorities, business representatives, and academic institutions. It facilitates the search, dissemination, systematisation, and optimisation of high-quality, reliable, legally significant, and standardised spatial data and services across CIS member states.
The map provides a simple and convenient way to visualise geographic information and is intended to support social, economic, cultural, tourism, and educational initiatives.
