CIS leaders sign 19 documents at Tajikistan summit List
Following the summit held in Tajikistan on October 10, leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) signed 19 official documents, the Kremlin announced.
Among the key decisions was the approval to grant the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) observer status within the CIS. Additionally, the member states agreed to establish a new cooperation framework referred to as the “CIS Plus” format, Caliber.Az reports.
Key agreements included plans for the 2026 CIS chairmanship, appointments related to the CIS Secretary-General, and scheduling the next Council of Heads of State meeting. The summit also endorsed cooperation programs targeting terrorism, extremism, and border security through 2030.
Military cooperation until 2030 and regional energy security were highlighted in new declarations, alongside agreements on legal and humanitarian issues, such as the transfer of sentenced persons and the termination of certain past treaties.
