CNN: Beijing tailors Xi–Trump state dinner menu to US president’s tastes
14 May 2026 16:50
A state dinner in Beijing marking talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump was partially adapted to accommodate the American leader’s dietary preferences, according to CNN.
The banquet, held alongside high-level discussions on trade and broader geopolitical issues, featured a menu blending Chinese and international dishes, with organisers reportedly taking into account Trump’s well-known selective eating habits.
Guests were served lobster in tomato soup, crispy spare ribs, Peking duck, braised seasonal vegetables, salmon slow-cooked in a mustard sauce, and fried pork buns. Dessert included shell-shaped pastries, tiramisu, a selection of fruit and ice cream.
