CNN: Iranian officials set to arrive in Pakistan on April 21 for US talks
An Iranian delegation will arrive in Pakistan on April 21 for talks with the US, Iranian sources familiar with the negotiations announced.
The sources said the delegation is expected to be the same as in the previous round, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, CNN reports.
The Iranians are anticipating a symbolic joint announcement on April 22 regarding an extension of the ceasefire.
If discussions progress smoothly and US President Donald Trump agrees to travel to Islamabad, the Iranian president is also expected to attend, leading to a “joint meeting of presidents” where both sides would sign a joint “Islamabad declaration,” the sources added.
There has been no official confirmation from Tehran so far regarding the planned trip of negotiators to Islamabad, following Trump’s announcement that he is sending a delegation.
The previous round of high-level talks ended last weekend without reaching an agreement.
