CNN: Pakistan, Egypt, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia set to discuss regional security
Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, will host four-way diplomatic talks with the foreign ministers of Egypt, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia starting in the afternoon on March 29 local time.
According to CNN, discussions are centred on regional security and potential pathways to de-escalate the ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran.
Pakistan plays a key role in the current diplomatic setup, maintaining working relations with both Washington and Tehran. Sources indicate that a 15-point peace plan proposed by the U.S. was transmitted via Islamabad.
Experts, however, caution that rapid progress is unlikely. Retired Lt. Gen. Muhammad Saeed, a Pakistani military analyst, noted that a “quick breakthrough” should not be expected.
For the record, the four countries have been involved in mediation efforts as the war, now in its second month, threatens their energy security and borders.
