CNN: Strait of Hormuz paralysis continues as tanker routes shift abruptly
19 April 2026 14:47
Tension remains high in the Strait of Hormuz area as vessel-tracking systems show that two tankers carrying liquefied petroleum gas and sailing from the Persian Gulf suddenly changed course, CNN reports.
According to the MarineTraffic data, the Meda, owned and operated by an Indian company, left its anchorage off the coast of the UAE late on the night of April 18. The tanker G Summer, owned by a Chinese company, departed from a port in Kuwait.
Both vessels turned south of Iran’s Larak Island without entering the Strait of Hormuz.
