Colombian president shares animal image summarising talk with Trump
Colombian President Gustavo Petro published a symbolic image on the social media platform X following a conversation with US President Donald Trump.
The image depicts a jaguar and a bald eagle—symbols of Colombia and the United States—shown pressed closely together, suggesting a layered or nuanced message about bilateral relations, Caliber.Az reports.
Entre las cosas que hablamos, el presidente Trump y yo, fue el desencuentro que tuvimos en su visión de la relación de EEUU con América Latina.

In his post, Petro said the discussion with Trump touched on, among other issues, disagreements over Washington’s vision for its relationship with Latin America. The Colombian president noted that he reminded the US president of a previously sent letter in which he proposed building international alliances around the global transition to clean energy.
“The exploitation of Latin America for oil would lead to the destruction of international law and, consequently, to barbarism and a third world war. World peace would be placed in real jeopardy, and we would face irreversible climate collapse with the extinction of life,” Petro wrote.
He emphasised that the clean energy potential of Latin America can be realised with an investment of 500 billion dollars, resources that the United States currently possesses.
