Trump-themed anniversary passports trigger booking frenzy in US PHOTO
Limited-edition US passports featuring President Donald Trump to mark the country's 250th anniversary have generated strong demand, with Americans already reserving 80% of the available application slots, State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said.
“Americans nationwide have shown incredible enthusiasm for the Patriot Passport – in just a few days since we opened appointments, 80% of the special application events we announced nationwide are already fully booked!
We'll be offering even more opportunities to apply for 250k commemorative passports at passport agencies across the country,” Pigott wrote on X.
Earlier, the White House unveiled the design of the limited-edition passports. The inside cover features a portrait of Trump with his signature set against the text of the US Declaration of Independence, alongside a painting depicting the signing of the Declaration on July 4, 1776.
The commemorative passports were initially scheduled to be issued only in Washington, with a limited run of 40,000 copies. However, the State Department later announced that, due to overwhelming demand, production would be expanded by an additional 250,000 passports, with applications available through passport agencies and centres nationwide.
