Concern mounts among US lawmakers over Trump’s running mate

A group of foreign ambassadors and diplomats gathered at American Family Field, home of the Milwaukee Brewers, between second and third base for an event aimed at attracting foreign investments to southeastern Wisconsin.

However, the main topic of conversation was GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump's selection of JD Vance, a prominent critic of US support for Ukraine, as his running mate on the first night of the Republican National Convention, Caliber.Az reports citing the foreign media.

"Ukraine is in trouble," a senior European official told The Wall Street Journal at the breakfast. Trump's decision to select Vance as his running mate is raising concerns across Europe that an already skeptical Trump might be persuaded to abandon Ukraine in its war against Russia. European capitals fear that without strong US aid, Ukraine will have less leverage in peace talks with Moscow or could outright lose the war.

J.D. Vance is a prominent figure in American politics, known for his diverse background and outspoken views.

Vance entered the political arena with a candidacy for the US Senate in Ohio. He aligned himself with the populist wing of the Republican Party, emphasising themes of economic nationalism and cultural conservatism.
