Ukraine downs 61 Russian drones in overnight strike

Ukrainian forces say they have shot down 61 drones overnight following a large-scale Russian attack.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force message on Telegram, Russia launched a ballistic Iskander-M missile and at least 85 Shahed strike drones and decoy drones in the early hours of August 16.

The attacks targeted frontline regions in Sumy, Donetsk, Chernihiv, and Dnipropetrovsk.

Ukrainian units responded with electronic warfare measures, mobile fire groups, and air defence forces.

Missiles and 24 UAVs were recorded hitting 12 objects in different regions.

Additionally, the Ukrainian military said there were 139 clashes with Russian troops along the front lines over the past 24 hours.
