Construction of basic infrastructre in liberated Aghdam nears completion
The general plan of Azerbaijan’s Aghdam city has been approved and has been made public.
According to APA, the Special Representative of the Azerbaijani president in the liberated territories of the Karabakh Economic Region (except for the Shusha district), Emin Huseynov, said that these processes have become widespread since May 28, 2021.
“The mine clearance was difficult, but this process was carried out very quickly. Several corridors have already been opened, and the main infrastructure is being built through these corridors. These works are expected to be completed by the end of this year,” Huseynov said.
He added that the construction of the Barda-Aghdam Road is slated for 2023; however, it can go online by the end of this year given the efforts exerted by Azerbaijan.
According to Huseynov, the restoration of Aghdam also included the construction of a power transmission line to Aghdam, as well as "Aghdam-1" and "Aghdam-2" substations. The project on the restoration of the major reservoir in the region, the Khachinchay reservoir, also the Agdamkend reservoir and their channels will be completed this year. Tenders will be announced for the restoration of those reservoirs.
“In other words, the main work on the basic infrastructure is nearing completion and the construction of social infrastructure facilities has begun,” Huseynov said.
Meanwhile, the construction of school No. 1, a hospital, a residential building and an industrial park has also been launched.
“Moreover, restoration of historical and cultural facilities, the Imaret Complex, the Giyasli Mosque and the Juma Mosque has started. In the next stage, we will restore the central part of the city. This will bring us even closer to the Great Return [of Azerbaijani people to the liberated lands],” Huseynov said.
