COP29 sees surge in registration with 28,000 visitors Including 2,700 media representatives
As of the morning of October 18, the COP29 Operating Company has reported a remarkable registration total of 28,000 visitors for the upcoming climate conference.
Narmin Jarchalova, Chair of COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company and Chief Operating Officer for COP29, provided these figures, highlighting that among the registrants, approximately 2,700 are media representatives, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The remaining attendees comprise members of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), representatives from observer organizations, official delegations, and various stakeholders.
The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change will be held in Azerbaijan on November 11-22. This decision was made at the COP28 plenary session in Dubai on December 11, 2023. During two weeks, Baku will become a global hub, welcoming around 70,000 to 80,000 international guests.
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is an agreement signed at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992, aimed at preventing dangerous human interference with the climate system. The abbreviation COP means "Conference of the Parties" and refers to the highest decision-making body responsible for overseeing the implementation of the UNFCCC.
