Costa: EU to continue diplomatic, military, financial aid to Ukraine
The European Union has reaffirmed its full backing for Ukraine, stressing the need for Brussels to play a central role in decisions on future sanctions against Russia, frozen Russian assets, and EU enlargement.
European Council President António Costa said matters directly affecting the EU require “full participation and decision-making by the Union,” Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Speaking after an informal EU leaders’ meeting on peace in Ukraine on the sidelines of the EU–African Union summit in Luanda, Costa emphasised that the EU will continue supporting Ukraine with diplomatic, military, and economic assistance.
He highlighted financial aid promised to Kyiv in October, which is set to be confirmed at the European Council meeting in December.
He also noted that peace talks in Ukraine are progressing, though some issues remain unresolved, and underlined the EU’s commitment to close coordination with Ukraine, the United States, and NATO.
