Countdown to January 20: Inside Trump’s plans for his presidential inauguration
Investor Steve Whitkoff and Senator Kelly Loeffler, both longtime friends of President-elect Donald Trump, will co-chair the committee responsible for planning his inauguration, according to Trump's campaign website.
“President Donald Trump, the 45th and 47th President of the United States, announced the formation of the Trump Vance Inaugural Committee, Inc., which will organize the inaugural events. Steve Whitkoff and Senator Kelly Loeffler, close allies and supporters, will co-lead this official body,” the statement declared, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Meanwhile, outgoing President Joe Biden is scheduled to meet with Trump on Wednesday, November 13, for discussions about the transition of power. The White House announced on its website that the meeting, which will be held in the Oval Office, was initiated by President Biden. Specific details will be provided by the White House press office at a later time.
In related news, Trump revealed he has no plans to appoint former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to roles in his upcoming administration.
“I will not invite former post-president Nikki Haley or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to my administration, which is currently being formed,” Trump posted on the Truth Social platform. Both Haley and Pompeo previously held significant positions during Trump’s first presidency.
Additionally, Trump may soon extend a significant offer to the United Kingdom. According to UK media, citing sources close to Trump, Britain could receive an exemption from tariffs on imported goods as part of a prospective trade deal. “The UK may be exempted from tariffs in a future agreement,” the report stated, suggesting that this deal could be finalized in the coming months.
The US presidential election, held on November 5, saw Trump defeat Democratic candidate Kamala Harris by securing 295 electoral votes, surpassing the required 270 to claim victory. The inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States is set for January 20, 2025.
