Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic expects the country to join the Schengen zone simultaneously with the entry into the eurozone, from January 1, 2023, TASS reports.
According to Plenkovic, France may, during the last month of its presidency in the EU Council, put forward a draft decision on Croatia's accession to the Schengen area. "Ultimately, the goal is for Croatia to enter the Schengen area, as well as the euro area, from 1 January 2023. And that will be the case," the prime minister stressed to reporters on Thursday.
Earlier, the Prime Minister of Croatia has repeatedly stated that he expects the country to join the Schengen area during 2022.
