Cuba restores power supply after widespread blackout
15 July 2026 19:58
Cuba has restored the electricity supply following a third nationwide blackout in just over a week.
It became possible to reconnect the country's unified power grid — from Pinar del Río to Holguín, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Cuba continues to face a shortage of electricity generation capacity due to the blockade imposed by the United States, meaning that some parts of the population may remain without power.
The collapse of Cuba's national power system occurred on July 14, 2026, at around 11:00 local time.
The trigger for the total blackout was an accident involving a generating unit in the eastern province of Holguín.
